Engineering and Surveying

E.D. Pons and Associates provided the structural engineering services for the additions and renovations to Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale, PA. When complete, the new building will contain 50 private patient rooms, future shell space, and a new main entry. The project also includes a linking bridge that spans over the existing two-story portion of the hospital to connect the existing four-story patient tower. The link connects at two levels. To meet the hospital requirements the bridge is designed to clear span over the low building without any intermediate supports.

The new construction is a five-story steel-framed structure. The floors are constructed of composite steel deck supported by steel beams. Lateral support is provided by moment and braced frames. All of the existing and new construction was modeled using Revit Structure. This model was used to prepare the construction documents and improve the coordination between the design team.
