The upgrades included the addition of three new cooling towers that were placed on the existing roof and the associated piping. An extensive analysis was performed to determine if the existing structure could support the weight of the new cooling towers and the associated piping.

Additional steel framing was designed to provide support for the cooling towers and the associated screenwall. In order to support the significant weight of the associated piping a steel frame was designed to support the pipes at the pump locations. Additional pipe supports were designed throughout the mechanical area to transfer the pipe load to the support structure without overstressing the existing structural framing. All of the pipe supports were modeled in 3-D using Revit 2014.
