Engineering and Surveying

E.D. Pons Associates, P.C. provided the structural engineering services for the new Dallas Intermediate School. The building is a two-story structure with classrooms and a gymnasium. The gymnasium has a barrel roof.

The construction is a steel-framed and masonry load bearing wall structure. The different structural systems were used to maximize the efficiency of the structure and reduce the costs to the owner. The classroom areas are load bearing walls and the gym structure is a steel frame. The building is supported on a conventional shallow foundation system.
