E.D. Pons and Associates provided the structural engineering services for an addition to the existing building 102.Start A Project With Us
The building will consolidate the physical therapy from various buildings on the campus to one building. The building is a one-story structure with a crawl space below.
The new construction is a steel-framed building that is independent of the existing building. Designing the new structure to be independent from the existing one prevented the owner from incurring the cost of upgrading the existing building to meet the lateral force requirements of the current building code. The first floor is elevated to match the existing and allow utilities to pass under the first floor. The building site was complicated by the existence of many underground utilities. The utility locations were mapped during the design phase. Using this information the building columns and footings were laid out to avoid interference with the utilities.
