The facilities has the capacity to support eight beds with an option to expand to twelve beds. The building is connected to the existing delivery area through a corridor and an elevator to the fourth floor of the hospital.

Steel-Frameed Construction

The building is a two-story steel framed structure. The roof is constructed of steel deck supported by steel beams. Steel beams were selected for the roof framing in-place of steel joists because they provide the owner with maximum flexibility for adding medical equipment without costly structural modifications. Lateral support is provided by moment resisting steel frames. This provides the owner with an open floor plan allowing for future building floor plan changes without any interference from sstructural elements. The connecting elevator link is a self supporting load bearing masonry structure.
